Ford Falcon & Holden Commodore Window Motors – Why Matching the Part Matters

Falcons and Commodores are Australian motoring icons, and we still get regular enquiries about their window motors and regulators. Because these cars are older, it is increasingly common to find a regulator assembly that has been replaced before. Similar cars can now have different parts inside the door.

RH = driver sideLH = passenger side

Window motor

The electric motor that supplies the power.

Window regulator

The mechanism that moves the glass up and down.

A motor can sometimes be replaced separately. But a complete aftermarket regulator may use a different motor design from the original.

Available ArvinMeritor motors

P-style LARVMP  & Q-style LARVMQ are listed for selected Falcon applications including some AUII/AUIII (2000–2002), BAII/BF/FG/FGX (2004–2016), and selected Commodore applications such as VT, VX, VU, VZ Commodores and WH Statesman. This is not a blanket fitment list: exact fit depends on the motor and regulator fitted to the individual vehicle. P and Q styles are not interchangeable. Falcons and Commodores also used other styles, including an earlier style we do not currently supply. Vehicle model alone does not confirm fitment.

Don’t just match the car. Match the regulator and motor actually fitted inside the door.

Compare these 4 things before ordering

1 · Motor shapeCompare the motor and gearbox outline.
2 · Mounting pointsHoles must line up. On the AU Falcon example, the motor screws on from behind through small holes in the black casing.
3 · Drive gearIt must engage correctly with the regulator.
4 · PlugCheck connector shape and wire or terminal count.

The motor-only replacement may suit an appropriate original-style regulator. An aftermarket assembly can differ in mounting holes, drive gear, gearbox, plug, wiring and attachment points.

Falcon regulator reference numbers

Useful regulator-family references only. Physically compare the part fitted; a reference number does not guarantee motor fitment.

Position Common reference Notes
RH / Driver Front ERF23200B 2-pin rectangular plug
LH / Passenger Front ERF23201B 2-pin rectangular plug
RH / Driver Rear ERF27000B 2-pin rectangular plug
LH / Passenger Rear ERF27001B 2-pin rectangular plug

AU–BF catalogues commonly distinguish rectangular 2-pin plugs from round/circular versions, so check plug style carefully.

Commodore regulator references

These references are commonly associated with the VT / VX / VU / VY / VZ regulator family. They do not guarantee motor-only fitment; check the assembly in your door.

Plugs & wiring

Some setups use a 2-pin connection, but plug shape and wire orientation vary. A plug swap or basic wiring change may be needed in some applications; it is not required for every fitment.

A different plug alone does not prove mechanical incompatibility. Check the mount, drive gear and physical fit. If a basic two-wire motor runs the window in the opposite direction after conversion, reversing the two motor wires may correct it.

If an aftermarket regulator is already fitted

Our motor may not fit an aftermarket assembly, even if the vehicle appears in a compatibility list. Replacing the complete regulator may be the better repair.

Older classic models

For older Falcons, Fairlanes, Holdens and other classic applications, contact us. We can provide details for a local specialist in older, hard-to-match power-window systems where appropriate.

Not sure? Send us photos

Send the vehicle year and model, door position, a photo of the complete regulator, close-ups of the motor and plug, and any visible part numbers.

With older Falcons and Commodores, don’t just match the car — match the part inside the door.
