Toyota Power Window Reset Procedures

If your Toyota's one-touch auto up/down window function has stopped working after a power interruption or motor replacement, use one of the two reset procedures below to restore it.

⚡ 2 Procedures Covered 🔧 Switch Reset & Motor Reset 🚗 All Toyota Models
💡

Which procedure do you need? If the motor is still installed and power was simply interrupted (battery disconnect, fuse, etc.) — use Procedure 1. If you've physically disconnected the motor from the regulator — use Procedure 2.

1
Open the window fully

With the car on, push down on the window switch until the window is fully open.

âš ī¸ Hold for at least 2 seconds after fully open — you may hear a small tick
2
Close the window fully

Pull up on the window switch until the window is fully closed. Hold for 2 seconds.

✅ Reset complete. If successful, one-touch auto up & down should now be operational. Test with a single press of the switch.

🔧

Use this procedure if you've installed a used motor or physically disconnected the motor from the regulator. Brand new motors are preset from the factory and typically only need Procedure 1.

1
Connect motor with car on, motor off regulator

With the motor disconnected from the regulator and the car on, connect the master switch and motor to the car's wiring.

2
Run motor upward for 4 seconds

Operate the window in the up direction for 4 seconds or 6–10 revolutions of the drive gear.

â„šī¸ You should hear a tick — this is the memory being reset
3
Bolt motor to regulator in the down position

Attach the motor to the regulator while it is in the down position and re-install into the door.

âš ī¸ Do NOT power the motor during installation
4
Close the window fully

With the motor and regulator installed, pull the switch until the window is fully closed. Hold for 1–2 seconds.

✅ Reset complete. One-touch auto up & down should now be operational. If not, repeat from Step 1.

Neither procedure worked? If the reset doesn't restore the auto function, the motor itself may be faulty and need replacing. Browse our Toyota window motor range below.
