Toyota Auto-Function Delete
Fitting a standard replacement motor to a Toyota Camry, Kluger or RAV4 with an auto-function window? You only need two wires. Here's exactly how to do it.
These Toyota models use a multi-pin plug for the window motor, but the auto-function module is built into the original motor. When fitting a standard replacement motor without the plug, you only need the two thickest power wires — Red and Green.
Power Wires — The Two Thickest Only
The old plug will not be used. Cut the Red and Green wires 2cm from the old plug and discard the plug. All other wires are not required.
Cut the Red and Green wires 2cm away from the old plug. The old plug will not be reused — discard it. Leave enough lead on the Red and Green wires to make a clean join.
Join the wires to the new motor's leads:
• Red from the harness → Red on the new motor
• Green from the harness → Black on the new motor
Test polarity before permanently joining. Press the Up button — if the window goes up, polarity is correct. If it goes down, swap the wires.
Permanently join the wires once polarity is confirmed. Use soldering and heat-shrink or quality crimp connectors. Avoid scotch-locks for permanent joins.
Test the window fully (up and down) before reinstalling the door trim.
